About
Gary Spaniola has spent his life creating music, technology, and art—following curiosity wherever it leads and relying on perseverance to get him there.
His years performing with and producing the Detroit-based rock group Bitter Sweet Alley led to a career in record production, during which he earned multiple gold and platinum records. Later, as a self-taught computer programmer, he designed a home automation system that remained on display at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry for more than a decade.
His memoir, Moments, tells the stories of that journey—from growing up in a large family and picking up his first guitar to performing before thousands, building businesses, chasing dreams, and finding humor in the chaos along the way.
In Blood of God: The Dead List, Spaniola draws those worlds together, exploring DNA, artificial intelligence, faith, memory, and the mystery of what it means to be human.
He continues to write, create, make noise, ask the universe inappropriate questions, and occasionally wonder whether his computer is judging him.
